Donna Lovie, an Assistant Nurse Practitioner has won a Cavell Star Award for going above and beyond for her patients.
Donna works at Sue Ryder Dee View Court in Aberdeen as part of the team caring for 22 residents living with conditions like multiple sclerosis and Huntington’s disease. Colleague and Clinical Nurse Specialist Julie Scoullar explains why Donna was nominated,
“Donna really understands that for our residents, Sue Ryder Dee View Court is their home. Nothing is too much trouble for her. She always does things properly and exactly as a service user likes – a real embodiment of Sue Ryder’s ethos of seeing the person and not the condition. One of our residents loves going to the cinema, for example – and Donna makes that happen.”
“I truly believe Donna deserves to win a Cavell Star Award for the amount she has achieved in such a short space of time – from starting with no clinical experience to overseeing a service and health and safety standards at Sue Ryder Dee View Court. She manages all this with a smile on her face - she really is a star.”
